took my son fishing today and had a lot of fun. caught a few nice rainbows with worms and noticed some huge carp in one spot. thought what the hell lets see if we can catch one or two. ripped up our sandwitches and put a ball of bread on and score caught several of the ugly things they sure do put up a fight. good time on the river with my boy he was so happy to catch a monster fish like he called them.

That sounds like tons of fun. I sure love them slimers. Though the weber i'm not too sure of. Tried and failed there more than once. Good to hear it's just me [pirate]
Did you eat the carp? I wonder how a river carp would taste. Though I'm guessing it was more stagnant than I imagin haha. My next carp is being thoroughly examined and tasted!

The flows sure were high and fast today huh? At least there were not a whole lot of fisherman around! Wonder why?[

Do that river a favor and "stab and release". Glad you managed some fish...sounds like a good trip.

Don't think you'd wanna get caught stabbing and releasing gamefish. This might cost you a few bills with the warden.
So are the bass over populated? Take a limit home to the fry-daddy! (try some Carp on the smoker - spice it up enough, you might be surprised!)

Why????

im wondering the same myself.

Carp have always been Garbage fish, i wont keep any i prefer to leave them out they are ruining alot of are fisheries!! Yuba goes to mention used to be my favorite lake now all you can get is a trash fish like a carp!!! I dont want them in the weber, rockport any where to be honest the utah lake thing should be done in most places!!! I noticed at deer creek there are getting to be more and more and i dont want it to over run there too! Remember the whole thing with the provo river when they had that wild run of carp up the river! if we dont act now all of are waters could be over ran with carp!

I think it was the comment about the SMB in question. I think everyone stands by your feelings on the carp population.
[signature]
Oh i see we need to keep releasing them ha get a big populations of them so i get lucky and catch one ha

i dont believe they have any set regs for smallies on the weeb so it should be the state limit of 6 any size, if you catch any smallies keep em for the fryer, its a trout fishery and if too many bass start getting in there than it might not go well for the trout.

Whoa...ok I ment stab and release the carp and KEEP the SMB's....wiperhunter2 already edited the post for me. Sorry guys that was just a typo...hopefully I can recieve your forgiveness here for that honest mistake.
1st off....stabing a game fish and throwing back...illegal unless posted otherwise...
2nd....and even more important.....those SMBs are yummy in the tummy...never to be wasted in my book!
I will be reading my posts more carefully before pressing the final button. Lesson learned.

small smallies in the 8 to 12 inch range are just as good as perch in my opinion.

Thanks for clearing that up, we sure don't want anyone to get in trouble for making statements that did not intend to make.

oh i see, and i agree, the smaller smallies are one of the few fish i lvoe to eat as well!!

Me throwing back a bass.....yea right! As most people know I am the last guy in Utah to release a bass. Beer Battered, or in Panko..some of the best tasting fish swimmin in the water...of course I have yet to try a walleye.
