Was fishing for kokes but got 5 rainbows and only 1 koke! Small trout were jumping everywhere sometimes 3 feet out of the water so i just stopped trolling and started casting at those schools. Got quite a few bites while trolling but couldn't set the hook on em fast enough cause the tension on the downrigger clamp was too tight and wouldn't release. Fished 30 foot out and used a 2 ounce weight to drop my line while trolling with the other rod and reeling in with a spinner and wedding ring with worm. Also used the downrigger with a wedding ring and worm about 10 down and 30 out. They seemed to be hitting between 5-8 best though.

I was up on the Monday the 21st and came home with 5 kokes and 3 trout. Shook off 8 other smaller kokes. Lost a lot more larger kokes, hard to net, drive and fight a fish by yourself. Gave up on the down riggers and just ran cow bells and ford fenders with 3/8 and 1/2 oz keel weights. Good eats!!!!

When I target kokes, I kill the engine with a fish on as to not rip the hook out their lips and cause my boat always goes in circles if I'm not holding the tillar steer.
