What was lost, is now found...
Early last week, I took a foster kid up blacksmith fork to fish. The kid had one on the seemed to be a decent size, but of course, the line broke and the fish got away. Today I took him out again and we decided to go to the same spot and try and catch the one that got away. As we pulled up, a man was already there and pulling out a huge brookie (or brown, I am horrible at telling the difference). Anyways he took it up to his truck and we walked over to take a look, upon further inspection, the fish had my fly on it still! We couldn't believe it and just laughed. The man was kind enough to give me back my fly. I can't say for sure how big the fish was but it was the biggest brookie I've ever seen, especially for the blacksmith. Unfortunately the man took the fish home (I'm a catch and release guy).
After all the excitement, the man left, so me and the kid decided to fish the spot anyways. I took the fly rod out and was doing a few casts. I saw a fish swimming and flicked my fly near it to show him where it was and WAM! I love watching a fish come up and nail my fly. The kid had two on but didn't set the hook and they got away, overall it was a fun day.
First pic is the big one, it doesn't really give it justice, the second is the one I caught.
