I got out on the water at 3:30 this afternoon and it was pretty hot but a nice little breeze was blowing across the water that made it bareable. I started in some shallow water and could not buy a bite. As wiskers would say...."Not even a smell." Had to go deeper and started picking one up here and there. I was using a pig and jig, a deep crank, a drop shot and a worm. I fished deep water for me from 12/15 to about 18/22 foot. I was not loading the boat but would catch one every so often. I saw a lot of fish on the depth finders but could not get most of them to bite. emoScratch The best bait I had deep was a worm and it was the most effective in getting the bigger bass to pick it up. I did nail a nice 3/1 lber on a crank. Managed with my best five deep a 4/4, 3/1, 2/12, 2/7 and a 2/6. emoThumbsup Not too bad considering the heat. Fianlly around 7 my phone rings and it is wiskers asking what I was doing. When I told him fishing he said he knew cause he was looking at me. emoConfused Nope, did not see him anywhere around me. He then tells me where he was and to come join him. I did and when I got there he was looking at Victor Rowe!!!!!!! and thought that was me! emoMad Are you kidding me?? I know I am ugly but come on!!! Victor Rowe?? He is as grey headed as they come and has a good 6 more years on me. emoDoh <br /><br />Got to shoot the bull with Alvin and Wiskers a few and he also sold me some power minners. emoDance He had not done much good and he headed off to another place. Right after they left I caught one right at 3/11 in front of Victor. emoEvil Then I caught two more slicks there. It was starting to get dark so I headed for some shallow water to end the evening on my spook. I busted four bass on it with two more keeper but none that would have helped if I had been in a tournament.<br /><br />So with the 3/11 culling the 2/6 my best five today would have gone 16 lbs and 3 ozes. Not to bad for a six hour trip with half of it during the hottest time of the day. emoCool <br /><br />Hope I can get back on them this weekend for the CBA.<br /><br />C-ya on the water.... emoAngler Jmax
