Looking to go fishing and camping this weekend in the area of Smith and Morehouse. Planning on hitting S and M one day and exploring other area lakes the next. I enjoy Primitive camping more so than camping in the campgrounds, does anyone know if there are places above S and M that you can camp at, outside of the campgrounds? Thanks in advance for your help.

there is a road (if u can call it that) you need 4 wheel drive and there is no way you can get a trailer up it. This road goes off to the right as your heading into the lake its past the dam and just abeam the campground. Its called the mudflats forest service road. there are several good spots along the way up there. good luck

Thanks I appreciate it, I just have 2 wheel drive and will be towing an aluminum boat, so it doesn't sound like that will work, I probably would have drove up that way and got stuck, you probably saved me a lot of time and hassle.

There are other spots not right at the reservoir in the weber canyon area but that would put you about 15 minutes from the reservoir

Sweet thanks again, and welcome to the forum! I got a tip on a sweet spot, but in a different direction, more of desert landscape. I will probably drive up there first and scout around in the next few weeks.
