Plastics, plastics, plastics will sum up our day today. We tried cranks...zip, we tried blades....zip, we tried top water...zip, and more, but the only things we could get our bass to bite today were plastic worms. We had our share on both shakeys and T-rigged worms. We used different colors and sizes...from 6 inches to 10 inches and caught bass on them all. Most of our bass came off edges today and deeper then we had been catching them. On the shallow side there were a couple in about eight foot that we caught including Derek's big bass which took a ten inch worm T-rigged on a long point with deeper water on both sides of the long ridge point. We caught around 25 to 30 bass today with most being keepers but mostly in the lower twos. emoScratch Maybe the big girls were deeper then we were fishing. We fished as deep as 21/22 foot but that was as deep as we went today. If there was a down side to our day the second bass I hooked was one that looked near four pounds. It jumped right by the boat and if Derek had been ready it would have been netted but we thought it was hooked well so we were going to play it down. After another deep run it came up and jumped again but this time when it came down it came off the hook. emoAngry Then maybe 45 minutes later Derek sets the hook on a hog just to have it break his line. Then to tease us it came up and jumped trying to get the 10 worm out of her mouth. emoHoppingmad One of those stories where we had the other fish on to win it but we could not execute the plan. emoDoh

Still a great day on the water and cool temps that made the day very nice causing it to go by real fast. Our best five were 7/4, 4/4, 2/15, 2/14 and 2/11. Those five went 20.07 lbs on the CBA scales. emoThumbsup Good enough to be in the money at seventh place. I always say, "Any time I am paid to fish it is a good day." emoBig Derek's big bass was the second biggest one weighed in so we were second on big LM.

Can't be greedy, we had a great time, saw a bunch of friends, stetched lines several times and had a bunch of good laughs. emoAngel

I will say that the day belonged to Cutthroat( Damon Taylor and Teddy Owensby) emoWorthy They had something like 23.41 lbs with two deceased so they were penalized a pound to 22.41 lbs. It was still enough to take the win. Damon said he had aerator problems. emoSorry Damon also had big bass of the day with one going 7.89 lbs and they had Tow Boat Rewards money. emoApplause They went home with $2,400.00 for their win. emoEek Congrats to them both. emoToast

Some of the regulars struggled today so me and Derek felt very good about having over 20 lbs. We seem to be on a roll about getting at least one good kicker in the boat when we go. I sure hope we can keep this up. emoTongue With the bass going deeper and so many fishing the river we had our doubts today. We also had to do the blast off this morning so we were the last boat to leave. We will take what we got any day.

Thanks Derek for filling my back seat and the other officers, helpers and my step Mom Glenda for all the help. Good job and great tournament as always. emoThanks Jmax
