My wife Eve & I fished the Woodhead end Thursday & Friday. I have not fished out of Woodhead for a long time. The campground was crowded even in the middle of the week, The spots were mostly all taken by Thursday night. By Friday afternoon they were pretty much all gone. Lots of boats on the water. Most of the good looking water up to about Cave Creek got hammered pretty good. We didn't go up ay farther than that.
Got crowded out of our fishing spots a couple of times buy rude people but I guess that happens everywere these days. One boat load of knotheads came running in at full speed and cut in right in front of us as we were going down the bank cutting us off from the drift we were making ad washing us out with thier big old wake. I just pulled up my trolling Motor and went looking for new water. What else can you do?
We did pretty good Thursday catching a lot of dink smallmouth in the 10'-11 3/4' range and some nice keeper size in the 12" - 13" range with two over 15". One weighed over 2 lbs on my "El Cheapo" fish scale. We used mostly tube baits and I threw a senko for a little while.
Friday was "Dink City" lots of little guys with just a few 12 inchers. My wife lost a nice one at the boat how nice I couldn't tell but probably another 15 incher. It got pretty hot so we got off the water at about 1:00 and went to Cambridge for lunch at Bucky's. Got back in the water about 4:30 after it cooled off a little and got into the evening bite.
Got to meet fellow BFT member EZOP (Jesse) We swapped tales and fishing info. Real nice guy. He even gave me a BFT sticker so I stuck it on the back window of my truck so if any of you see it say howdy!
We were gonna fish Saturday but we woke up to thunder and some rain. It looked like my wife had had about enough so we packed up and headed home.
