So took my 3 boys up o the berry to brave free fishing day. We got up early to get a good spot we look at the ladders and it was packed the whole berry side was packed so we found us a place to try. the weather was bad very cloudy for about the first two hours or so and only had one bit.
Then the sun came out and it was just on fire to the point that we could cast out and reel in bait like it was a lure and the big cuts would chase it with in a foot of the bank. Then either hit it or splash water at us with their tails as they turned away. It was all i could do to try and take cuts off the lines of my kids poles until my 10 and 11 year olds started to get sick of catching fish. at this point we had caught over 115 fish with 9 over the slot !!!
The kids wanted to go so i talked them into the ladder where we found a spot and made it work . There was a kid there with a gas powered remote control car while we where fishing the car came racing down the bank and into the water with out even thinking about it i jumped in and save his car while going for a swim over my head and then find my phone in my pocket when i got out. The ladders wasn't all bad we stayed there a hour and caught 5 fish 2 of with where 26 inches and 4 of the 5 over the slot. We didn't see any one of the other 15 or more people there even get a bit.
The kids want to go again and me a little cold not to mention soaked to the bone. I made another deal with them one more spot and I would take them to get something to eat as so as i caught 10 more fish the 2 younger ones sat in the car. As it was starting to cloud up again fishing here was not as good as the first spot i think it was the weather i never made to 10 ten it started to hail when i was on seven and my oldest was on 11 so we made a mad dash to the car and never looked back
Made home by about 4pm and with not a fish to clean we let them all go even the dozen or more bow we had gotten in the mountain of cuts
