Born: Birth date and place of birth is not known, though he first turned up in a tackle box left behind at a Kids All-American Fishing Derby event in 1989.

Education: School of Hard Bites

Hobbies: Helping kids get the most enjoyment from fishing possible. "I love how their faces light up when I do my famous 'dip and dive' maneuver." Also enjoys skipping rocks.

First Fish: Scrappy little bluegill on a small pond in Missouri. ("OK, I didn't actually catch it myself, but I made sure my fishing buddy knew the fish was on the line!)

Favorite Cause: Catch and release

Pet Peeve: Litterbugs. "It makes me to come in from a day of fishing and see the water or a shoreline littered with trash. Also sees no humor in bobber tossing and short bobber jokes.

Favorite Book: Moby Dick ("The ultimate catch and release!")

The following is an excerpt from an interview Sebastian Bobber gave to "Uncle Homer" Circle, Bass Fishing Editor of Outdoor Life Magazine. Uncle Homer is considered in the outdoor writing profession as the dean of fishing journalists. He has been writing and broadcasting about fishing for more than 50 years. Sebastian spoke with Uncle Homer after being named the Official Spokesbobber for Youth Fishing by Hooked On Fishing International (HOFI), producers of the Wal-Mart Kids All-American Fishing Derby.

Uncle Homer: Your work supporting kids fishing efforts through the years is without match, yet you have chosen to avoid the public limelight. Why have you now decided to accept the role of Official Spokesbobber for youth fishing?

Sebastian: I never came across a program that allowed me to float my message to so many young anglers.

Uncle Homer: And what is that message?

Sebastian: Hey, fishing's fun and it's so cool! Fishing is a great way to spend time outside with your friends. It's an easy activity to learn and it's an absolute blast when a kid gets a fish on the line and makes me "bob" up and down!

Uncle Homer: How did you get hooked on fishing?

Sebastian: I'm a bobber. It's what I do.

Uncle Homer: As the Official Spokesbobber for Youth Fishing, what are your duties?

Sebastian: I hope to encourage America's youth to take up fishing and keep them fishing for a long, long time. I'll be representing the Wal-Mart Kids All-American Fishing Derby program as the ambasor to 1,800 plus fishing events across the country. This is the program that has helped bring fishing to over seven million kids and their family members in 17 years.

Uncle Homer: Sounds like you have a big job to do.

Sebastian: Other than a brief stint as a lottery ball, I've spent my entire life fishing. I've seen the wonderful things fishing does for kids and their families. There's nothing like fishing to bring out cheek-to-cheek s and chuckles of joy from the kids.

Uncle Homer: You sound like you know what you're talking about.

Sebastian: Just because I spend a lot of time in the water doesn't mean I'm all wet.

Uncle Homer: Have you ever blown off your chores to go fishing?
