I don't want to come off sounding like a horses rear end so please take this in the spirit that it is intended.

I don't have time to respond to every post and know that you don't either, but if you would just show appreciation for the education, entertainment, information that you get from this board it would go a long way towards making BFT that much better.

I figure there are about 20 regular posters, 20 time to time posters, and 300-500 regular lurkers. As you know some of regulars are getting fed up with all the taking without even giving thanks.

Lets be the kind of people who tip when we eat out, share when we can and give thanks when we are entertained, educated or informed on BFT. An attitude of gratitude will go along ways towards keeping this a fun place to visit.

Just my two cents.

I would like to apologize if i have been one of those lurkers. I will put in as much info as i can in the future. And thank you to all that have helped me out since ive been on here!

Thanks Windriver! I thought something was funny when our posts have so many views!

I think the number of prospective lurkers is smaller than you think. I myself view some threads multiple times when new info appears on them, so upwards of 10 of those views may be from the same person. I do agree that it is in the 100's, and I want to extend my thanks for the info I have received.

A simple "thanks" goes a LONG way toward motivating a poster, really.

That video of Windriver's on Bluegill is a fine example of something a user took a lot of time and effort to put together and share. (Quality work there!)

But when you take the time to prep photos, put words down, videos together, get 500-1000 views and 2 or 3 responses, well - it's a bit disheartening. So I'm with ya WR - a simple "tip" is common courtesy. Think of it as a "like" on Facebook if that helps...
Thanks Windriver, though I have only been part of the forum for about 2 months, I could and should post more. Thanks for the kick in the pants to get me motivated! I hope this sounds sincere, cause it is. Derick

Good reminder!

Yes, there are multiple reopens from regular users, but at the moment I am writing this there are 26 registered users and 261 guests on line. We are way out numbered!

So "Guests" sign up and just say thanks once in a while. It goes a long way to improving the forum. Put a picture of a fish or two up you don't even have to say where you caught them......unless it was Costco! [shocked] [laugh][laugh]

+1. It is funny that a guy gets 500 or 800 views and two reply's. Ron

I thought this said LUNKERS read. My mistake. I think a huge portion of the viewers are guest accounts that cannot leave a post.

Thanks, Windriver. I am sure you speak for most of the registered users on this site who believe forums represent a give-and-take process. Mike

Not lurking for information- just come here for entertainment. Attacks way too common on this thing.

I am friends with multiple people from this forum, We fish alot together throughout the week. Some of us post a lot less because of some of the regulars sending pm's telling us what to say and what not to say about places.
Windriver your post is spot on, but it also should be directed to ALL, not just the lurkers.

I was just talking to my good friend about this topic and we both agreed about how it isnt worth the headache to post anymore because of some of the responses and people telling us were wrong.

I love BFT. The people on here are awesome and the friends I have made from it are awesome. I am on multiple times a day but dont post often for the above reasons. Hopefully it will change over time.

Thanks definitely goes a long way. I'm getting to where I don't even want to reply to private messages from people I don't see on here often as I rarely get a thank you or ever hear from them again. I have had an awesome fishing year this year, but I hardly post reports anymore because of this.

What to say about this ?? whats a "lurker" on an internet board ??

There are lots of people who have fished in Idaho for decades that read this board ( its called the meat board btw) just to see if a particular body of water is fishing well at the time. They are pretty much smart enough to not post up reports with pics and exact locations .. and patterns etc.. because they are smart enough to know that should they have a great day.. they dont want to be joined by 100 other people who know exactly what to do and exactly where to do it because they told them how.

Its kinda funny. If I posted a report. And went back the next weekend and found 20 people in that spot I would have to kick my own ass.

This whole subject is as old as the world wide web...

The you have the other things that come up. " Lets plant walleye in every lake " " I fished off the same rock for a week and some guy came and stood on my rock during boot steelhead season.. is he a bad man ??" " I always have a gun on me and will use it" " lets raise the limit so we can have a freezer full of freezer burnt fish"

Dont complain about what your part of. These boards can be entertaining and a guy can learn a little. But to expect that every person that reads them is going to tell everybody anything is sort of stupid.

To funny.. I have to work this weekend and my buddys are fishing. We will talk on the phone and they will say whats up ?? and I'll tell them " some dudes are crying about lurkers on the meat board"... and we will all read it.. and laugh our asses off. It really is that funny.

What is a lurker? A lurker is someone that reads this site and fishes all the hotspots and never lets anyone know where they are finding fish.

There a a ton of good people that i have met on here and seen them on the lakes. I hardly ever posted that much before, but now post often.

Idaho is a fairly big state with not a lot of lakes. It sucks to drive 3 hours to fish a spot that is not hot.

When i bass fish i fish a lot of areas and run into people aften fishing the same shoreline. When i am perch and crappie fishing i fish next to a bunch of other boats because that is a hot spot. I do not get mad when i am at a spot doing well and other boats come close. In fact i normally tell them how i am doing it and often give them some cut bait to get started.

BFT is an awesome site! Good people, funny stories and i can get an idea of where to fish next.
