Went out for a couple hours last night with 4 of my boys. Caught nothing on the main body of water. Admittedly, we were more into exploring than fishing for this first trip - but we worked our way north with no luck in the shallows with plastics, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits - and a little further out with the same tackle plus cranks...

Wound up at the north end, trying to find the young bass that will eat anything. No luck.

...until we went up the inlet. Finally found them. Relatively deep water with weeds up to the surface, but plenty of pockets. Ended up catching 16 in there with the last hour of daylight.

Soooo, not terribly productive, but none of us were skunked. Biggest one was 14". Smallest, ironically, was 6" and chomped on my KVD 1.5. Could barely get its mouth over the hook, but managed it. lol

No pix, as there wasn't any point. Water incredibly murky with a lot of small debris churning through it. Dunno if the water is still too cold, or if it's too dirty - but it just wasn't awesome...

Just doing my part to keep you all informed!

Yeah - what Wildcat said. Graci. Haven't been up for a few weeks, and need to give it another visit as things warm. I like it best there in late late fall.

At least you found some, and got into 'em. We looked, and didn't find much for bass. Did you see any Musky? We saw lots, and had several follows. The morning after of the campover - had quite a few come in close to shore during breakfast hours. It's even just fun to see 'em!

Wish I knew better where to find the crappie in that lake!

Good that ya got the kids on some tugs anyway. Thanks for the report. One nice thing about that uppermost northern part - is NO SKI_SQUAD! haha!
I was up there yesterday (Friday) looking for tigers. The only one that I saw was dead and floating... it was a brutal day. There was a DNR guy up there checking mussle forms and he told me that everything he had heard was that its been really rough for the last several weeks. The water temps were 67/68, but the water is very heavily stained... almost like khaki green paint. I never got so much as a follow. The DNR guy did tell me that they plan to fix the ramp later this year when the water is down. They sure need to [:p] Fred K.

No kidding. I've always launched on the west shore, but went ahead and tried the boat ramp this time. What a hassle. Launch was fine, but loading was a fiasco. Ended up putting my boat on and then having my trailer tilt 45 degrees off the ramp! Then as I pop the boat back off, the trailer can't climb back onto the ramp... Ugh. Good thing my trailer and boat both weigh about 4 pounds...
