I made a stop at Devils Cr. Res yesterday afternoon for a few hours of fishing. There were lots of campers there, but not that many people out on the water yet. There were a couple of other float tubes, about 3 boats, and some bank fishers on the point by the dam.
Pretty little reservoir even if there are a ton of campers and the noise of the freeway on the west side.

I also watched two trucks get stuck trying to drive on to the shore.
I haven't fished Devils very much, but it seemed to be fairly slow. I only saw one other person catch anything and it was a bass. The bass were hanging out in the shallows in the weeds and sticks. The largest I caught was about 12 inches. I didn't fish for them very long.

I didn't know a good place to start at, so I moved around a lot. Water temp on the surface was 67 degrees. The trout were hanging out at 15 to 20 ft deep in over 20 feet of water. I caught several in the 10 to 12 inch range and several more that were 14 to 15 inches.

I was hoping to stumble on to a kokanee, but no luck in that department.
The fish must have pelican radar. When three pelicans cruised up the side I was on, the fishing shut down completely. Hope they aren't nesting there, or anywhere in the area.

I also saw two deer in the willows on the bank, a couple of hawks, a gaggle of geese, and more ducks. On the way home more deer were out and also this nice moose.
