The wife and I decided to have a date night and go fishing on Willard. It was relatively slow, caught a small walleye and let him go to make more baby walleyes for us in the future.

Last week we caught a couple of wipers and were wanting to catch a few more, however what I caught fought harder than any wiper I've ever caught.

If I hadn't of taken pictures of it, I never would have believed it. I hooked into this monster rainbow out there.

It was 3.3lbs and about 20".

A fisherman at the docks said that there are bows all over in Willard, but I've never heard of anyone catching them in there.

Had to share with you guys!

I also attached the wiper my wife caught last week. It's getting fun out there.

I have seen a couple other rainbows caught out of there, but I have seen a bunch of browns. Usually by the inlet Pre-walleye spawn. Even the odd perch or 2.

Thats the biggest one out of their, That I have personally seen reports on. Must have been pretty epic to reel that in, especially without any knowledge of trout being in their. I have always wanted to, just for bragging rights. I used to fish the inlet canal for years growing up, I would always fish the bridge on 200 S. in marriot slatterville. Thats about a half a mile or so of where the ogden runs into the inlet, I dont even have a guess to how far away from willard is. Usually only one time of the year you could catch rainbows, browns,Small mouth and wiper! That actually might have been the first time I caught smalls, or a wiper in my life, kinda blurry thinking back that far [cool] Along with the catfish, carp, and blue gill. No perch though, that I have yet to see, yet my dad and his friend claim they saw a tiger muskie in the south inlet at willard.

I don't think that's a rainbow at all. Looks like a Kokanee! [crazy]

Anytime you've got a river feeding a reservoir - seems like a chance for a transfer. No bucket biologists, just a twist of fate. Probably not the best environment for Trout (or Kokanee [:p]). I have heard of Musky in Willard - slipped down from Pineview, similar to Pike in Utah Lake (mandatory kill on those, right?)

Have heard of (seen evidence) or Bows in murky 'ol Cutler, as well as first person Brown Trout experience. They'll get where they wanna go.

Nice post - thanks for sharing.
There is actually some pike in willard, not muskie, pike. Uncle caught one years ago
