I have been tying a ton of flies lately because the boss (my wife) has not given me the green light to get out on the water.
What's your favorite foam fly to tie? I would like to learn some new patterns

HOPPER of course! I have the cutters and buy 1/2" thick foam from Michaels. Either rubber legs, or Pheasant tail. I like to put a dropper loop on them too. Easy addition and makes it easy to dry/drop.

Chubby chernoble. Nothing has ever topped it for me. Consistently out fishes all other other foam patterns for me.

How do you do the dropper loop? I love doing a hopper dropper but don't know if I have ever seen the loop tied into the fly.
I love the hoppers! I made a goal to catch a fish on a hopper every month of the year this year...so far so good!

I love the Chernobyl as well...I had a day in box canyon with it where I caught about 6 Brookies right where the buffalo dumps in on a huge Chernobyl.
What colors have you had best luck with? Red/black has been my best

the chernoble ant in general is a fantastic fly but this is the particular pattern im talking about.

I have two favorite colors. early in the stonefly hatches i will use gold body with brown legs and later in the hatches i use pink bodies with pink legs.

You can do it with any fly. Take some mono and make a loop at the back of the hook and tie it down first. Then build the fly

I have never tried the chubby Chernobyl. I will have to tie a few up and try them out. Thanks for the link!

Thanks for the picture! I will have to try this out on some flies I am tying up for a trip to Montana.

It frees up the hook and is better with barbless.

AWESOME! I like the eye idea too. I will have to try that, but the eye will have to be big enough for 3 strands of mono/fluoro. The dropper loop will work on smaller eyed hooks.

SAWEEET! Now that is too cool! I like that hopper pattern too, thanks Chris.

The Hoppicator! I like that idea...time to tie some up!
Thanks Chris and Congrats on the new addition!
