hmmmmmmmmmm in the area that fire is, the last rain storm was what started the fire!! the moutains up there have been getting rain off and on for the last 3 weeks like we always do this time of year..... and it is no where neer Scofield.
millers flat it is close to. getting closer to huntington and cleveland and north end of E-lake.. it has a long way to go before it gets anywhere near Scofield.. [crazy].. the fairview fire was cool to watch from my frount yard last night.. and i can see all the smoke from the seely fire from my frount door too..

I highly doubt it was a thunder storm because we havent had one for quite some time plus when i went camping a few time when u thing u up so much water gallons by gallons and then if winds pick up really good it will come back up lite and you have a camp fire once again and it could of gone wild to small fire and then this beastly fire. Believe me i have seen my camp fire back up because of wind, its been really windy so im sure it was from that scout group or just other people. As well why do you make a camp fire when the state is in danger zone. Common scenes thats all it takes.

I was up near the Uintas (in the mountains east of Heber City) yesterday and we had thunder, lightning and rain. Further east, it looked very, ominous. Just because we are not getting any in the valley, doesn't mean the high country isn't getting any storms or dry lightning for that matter.

Not sure how it started, but our trip to our cabin at Scofield was shortened today when the State Park Ranger knocked on our door to tell us we had to evacuate!! BTW, fishing was stellar the last couple of days there.

Exactly, literally and figuratively. The biggest loss of the trip is that me and my boys were planning on fishing Huntington creek and the surrounding area tomorrow. Oh well, better safe than sorry.

up date on the fire on Seely.. the fire jumped the raod highway 31 in huntington canyon.. it's about 1 mile south east of E-lake. i got a pic.. it came cloea to crossing the mountain and going into the miller falts scad valley but so far has stayed east of there.. the L.D.S girls camp south of millers is safe for now.. my wife and her ward were to be up there tell saterday but only got to spend 1 hour there and was told they had to go.. darn..
1st pic: cleveland res looking east
2nd pic E-lake looking south
3rd pic huntington canyon looking north.
4th pic: side note the last pic is of a guy and wife in the woodhollow area were helping others get out of there homes when the wind changed and took there home out.. all they have left in the world is what they had on at the time..

You ever pass through Samak, or just stop at Kamas. Samak has some killer jerky, but the mirrored name makes me . Love them hills.

Man that sucks Ron. I grew up on that mountain. In fact the place I do most of my deer and elk hunting is on gentry mountain. My understanding is the fire hopped the canyon after burning down thru horse canyon, then up on the gentry and has burnt all arround star point , and is dropping into corner canyon , and nuckwoodard'. Thats destroying all my stomping grounds and covering some serious distance.. Guess I better get a bucket of water and head down there huh??

well the trouth of it is the fire will probley help it be better for game huntting in the next 3 or 4 years.. and we all knew it had to happen sooner or later with all the dead timber all over up there on both sides.. when i first seen the smoke tuseday morning i thought for sure it was in the Scad valley headed for skyline drive... i now know it was the next rage over and it went north east insted of north west.. the part is it is head for Clear Creeck and Scofield..still a while away from Scofield but close to Clear Creeck now.. let's hope the firefighters can get a handle on it soon and get it knocked down. and all that get hurt is some dead timber..

I know for years my freind and I have said on well placed lighting bolt was going to set that mountain off. I guess this is the year. I guess a few years from now it will have been a benifit. My freind however owns a large section ( 7000 acres) in spring canyon . He owns from the TV towers by scofeild down the canyou toward helper. He's been watching the gentruy/star point fire from the top of his property. It's only a couple miles away as the crow fly's. And with over a million invested in his own private hunting ranch , he is a little more than concerned. He said last night he could see the flames 50-70' feet high in that fire.I Hope they can get a handle on it.
