well i decided to not hit my honey hole a 3rd time in a week and paid for it. i only got about 50 with biggest about 1.75 on cranks and plastics. only got 1 on top. my rookie buddy got 15 fish for the day. man it wasnt supposed to be windy but it was so finesse fishing was out. a good day on the water at least. took out a coyote and should have got a 2nd. no pic worthy fish this time. rim road had a huge tree blown over from thunderstorm in the morning that if not for the cone at 530 am would have been an accident at 40 mph. too close for comfort.had to drive around to grandview to get there.

I found the same roadblock on Rim Rd. that you did.

Although I was a few hours behind you, had more light and some guys working to remove it, as a warning to slow down. Apparently two small orange cones, on the edge of the road, placed a few miles before hand, is a universal warning of road blockage that I was unaware of. LOL Thought they could have made a little more effort to redirect traffic on a safer route...
This was my first trip to CJ this year. I have been reluctant to go, after hearing many reports of marginal results. We headed down to target crappie. It was a windy morning, and it's always a battle to keep the pontoon in an ideal positon. So we mainly fished the narrows, trying to escape some of the wind, and only hooked one. The electronics were showing schools suspended at about 12 ft., on the edge of the main channel. We couldn't figure them out though. Although I have only been once, it does seem to be much slower fishing down there, when compared to last year.
