What a beautiful morning to fish, if you were a duck or a frog. It wasn't raining at my house when Cuonthelake and I started out to the Riverpark in search of a big Rockfish. We fooled with those fish for an hour or more, maybe 2 hours before we decided that we needed to start crappie fishing in order to get the "skunk" off the boat. Nothing bit at the dam except for rock piles, not Rock fish. emoBig We donated a few jigs, but that is why I buy them by the hundreds. emoUp

We even switched over to topwater lures for a while, but no bass up. So, we finally put on some Bobby Garland plastics and started catching both white and black crappie. There were small. Only 1 keeper in the 20 or so that we landed. It was only 10.5 inches long. We have a world of 9" crappie in the lake.

I mentioned that it wasn't raining when we started out this morning, but that didn't last long. Before you know it, we both had on rain suits and fished in a steady rain that went from a light rain to a monsoon and back again, and I discovered that my bilge pump isn't working. May have a stick in the impeller. I'll attend to that on a dryer day. I must give Candi credit for hanging in there in the rain. She acted like she was really enjoying the rain.

No wonder people think that fishermen are about 3 pickles short of a double cheeseburger when they stay out in weather like this. I don't mind putting on a rain suit and fishing in the rain, but I don't like to start out in the rain. It didn't bother Candi at all. She may be part Mother Goose. emoPoke I promised her another trip next week when we should have some better weather and a better moon phase. I think that we may see if the white bass are still doing anything up at the nuke next week. We always have crappie to fall back on. I believe that I can catch a couple limits of keepers in the lake now. Thanks for going with me today, Candi. We will do it again next week, the good Lord willing. emoBig emoGeezer
