As requested, here's the poll. Give a vote to the top three places you would like to live.

Here's my thinking in narrowing the list down from 11 towns that got votes in the forum to 6 here.

1. Since this is a Top 3, I think it has to be CDA or Orofino as the flagship for North Idaho. With all of the votes, you have to consider what is within vicinity. CDA has all of the big lake trout lakes, the Clark Fork, and the steelheading in Lewiston within 2 hours drive. Orofino originally got more votes than CDA, but it doesn't offer as much diversity in its region than CDA (in my opinion - I'm sure it could be argued - so you choose).

2. I'm going to lump Weiser & Homedale into Boise. Both of those places are within an hour of Boise (unless your stuck in rush hour in the evenings). Plus, if you're in Boise, you're a two hour drive (or less) to Twin Falls, and can fish the snake in between. A good central location with a lot of diversity.

3. Idaho Falls. Obviously Top 3. Probably #1 in my book. Within 2 hours of Island Park and American Falls and Preston. And the South Fork is in the backyard.

4. Salmon. Not as centrally located, but what it has to offer is impressive nonetheless.

5. Preston - like Salmon - is not as centrally located, but its fishery diversity makes it a clear option.

Spread your three votes (3 votes only!!!) around as you like, and feel free to comment as you see fit. Thanks!
