Jack wanted to fish this morning for a few hours before he leaves to see his brother for a few weeks so of course it did not take much are twisting to get me out. We have been putting in at CFP but decided to put in above the dam near Erwin. We started a little late and only fished about three hours. Water is very clear and when we started there was no wind and no current. We tried some favorite ledges with a spoon and shakey head but could not get bit. Then we went into some pockets off the main lake and tried shallow and still could not get bit. So we went back to the main lake and of course the wind was now picking up and the wakes from the battleships had started. We hit a point and Jack hooks a good one. I am thinking a big smallie or spot but it was a DRUM! emoBang Nice big one and it put up quite a fight. We stayed on the point and pulled a small spot off of it with a shakey head. I cast to a muddy bank with rocks and felt my shakey head get stuck in some rocks so I popped it and it jumped out and then the line immediately begin moving so I set the hook and the fight was on! Even though it was about 2.5 lb smallie it fought a lot bigger. Jack did a perfect net job on it since we were both using 6lb test. Hit a couple more points and marked a ton of fish near the mouth of BT but only caught yellow bass. Good day any way and so proud of Jack putting the boat on the trailer perfectly. When he gets his license I will have another helper for backing in!! emoThumbsup
