Thinking about taking the kids up to Scofield this weekend. They would like to catch crawdads, while I want to throw a line. I am not opposed to the state park campgrounds, but was wondering if anyone knew of a places that I could park a 23 foot trailer and catch both fish and crawdads??? Thanks.

THERE IS 2 DIFFERENT STATE PARK AREAS TO CAMP. oNE AS YOU PULL IN TO THE LAKE , ANOTHE WHERE THE MAIN LAUNCH IS. THERE IS ALSO A CAMPGROUND ALL THE WAY ARROUND WHERE UPPER FISH CREEK RUNS IN. WHILE IT SITS A MILE OFF THE LAKE (BY THE RIVER)iT DOESN'T HAVE THAT KOA CAMPGROUND FEEL TO IT LIKE THE OTHERS.THE RIVER CAN BE PRETTY GOOD FISHING THERE ALSO.

The campground up Fish Creek is also my choice of the three, however, there is one pretty steep hill on the road up there. You might want to try it without the 23 footer first to see if you want to make the attempt. You will know your capabilities and whether or not to try.

The campground in the middle that Lonnie referred to is smaller and pretty hard to get into without a reservation. The other is much larger and you may be able to get in.

When I camp in that area, I pull my trailor over the hill and camp by electric lake or bouldger or even gooseberry (about 10 miles + or -) and drive back to fish at scofeild. It's much nicer camping on the other side of james canyon (electric lake area)
