My wife decided to tag along for CFF #9 in hopes we could get close to the success of #8. After blasting everyone off we headed to the area where I had caught the big fish earlier. Taffi immediately hooked a healthy largemouth on a topwater torpedo, only to have it come off at the boat out of reach of the net. About ten minues later we noticed the increaesed lightning and wind. I then hooked a decent fish on a spinnerbait only to have it jump and come off. At this point, I was thinking "not one of these nights". I decided to start throwing a texas rigged worm, but after about 5-6 casts Taffi pulled out her phone and showed me where the storm was coming and that we were about to get hit. I made the decison to run back to HBSP and try to find an open slip. We rushed back, and about the time we pulled into an open slip the sky opened up. We backed all the way into the slip and tied off the boat. I told Taffi to stay low and I did the same. I worked on tournament committee things while it poured down. All of a sudden, we heard a loud pop along with the flash of lightning, which is when Brian was hit. After the rain finally let up we started fishing the slips. I lost two more fish on the slips, both on a shaky head, and both right at the boat. I was totally frustrated. It started raining hard again about 1:20am, which is when I decided to run to the dock and tie off so Taffi and I could get to the truck, and I could get the boat loaded. A frustrating night to say the least, but a night in which we should have had three keepers for around 7-8 pounds. Congrats to the winners.
