Catching one and two year old cutts and brooks and the occasional small hybrid. Can't find many three and four year old fish. Largest fish this year for me has been a four pound brook trout.

Today I found a pod of feeding fishing in deep water and caught 37 of them - all chubs. Good sturgeon bait.

This is the worst year of fishing on the lake for me since 1981. Hopefully the numbers and a few fish over a pound will show up this fall or during ice fishing for all of you.

Thought I would post a report before I got accused of lurking.

Happy fishing.

[quote flygoddess]I bet Ice Fishing will be awesome[Wink][/quote]Sounds like somebody knows the fish need a little thinnin' from the over-stocking! We gonna see ya on the hard deck up there this year Joni?

I would do it[Wink] But, sorry, not going to do the 9 day trip this year. This report confirmed that. Strawberry anyone?

Not what I wanted to read! [frown]

I was looking forward to fall fishing.

I think the fall fishing on Henry's will suck, and everyone should fish elsewhere !!!!!

I was going to do a 3 dayer in late September, but Strawberry is closer. Hope it cools down soon.

Not sure that is great advise. Just means more stunted fish as no one is fishing the lake. The fish keep coming.
Not to mention, Idaho really does count on the revenue generated from tourism.
You realize, I drop $1,000. easy every year up there, and I never go alone.

Orvy, give a shout when you hit Strawberry, we plan on the same. Got several Pontoons too[Wink]

Strawberry?? That's crazy talk. No big brook trout in Strawberry.[Smile]

True, but how many big ones are in Henry's? You guys did great in the Uinta's though

Brook Trout seem to hold in certain areas of Henrys. And I would say that there are quite a few in there. I see and hear more and more being caught, and boy to those Henrys Lake brookies put up a fight.

Now doubt the overall size of the cutts and hybrids is down, But i would say the Brookies are still pretty large.

Amen to the fight. You are probably right. Last trip (last Year) I manage a couple over 21" and I know they are what is straightening the hooks[Wink]
I just miss my 30+" Cutts.[angelic]

Does anyone know places to camp on the lake up there, with hookups, besides Henrys Lake campground and the Wild Rose? Lookin at an early October trip this year.
[signature]
no, but if they are still open, Red Rock Camp Ground is full hook-up. But, it is 1 mile from the lake. A dirt road right next to the camp ground takes you right down to Cliffs. Great people (Gordon)

Thanks FG...good to know. That gives us three options. The state campground is OK but it's so wide open ( no trees ) and Wild Rose looks like the trailers are like 5 feet apart from each other. Both are open the timeframe we're looking at going 6-12 Oct.We'll be making the drive to Three Dollar a couple times while were there. You ever fished the Madison that time of year ?
