Terry and I ran up river and fished grass edges all night. (Except for the 30 minutes we spent in an empty boat slip we managed to find when the downpour came).(Private dock. SORRY&quot. Terry boated our 1st fish which was a 17.5 inch small mouth in shallow water on a jig. That was about 8:15. We didn't catch another fish until about 11:15 which was a LM weighing a lil over 3 lbs that Terry caught on a big black worm. A few casts later Terry boated our 2nd keeper which was only about 16.5 inches. We fished there for another hour or so with only 1 more short fish. About 12:30 Terry suggested that we should try a different patch of grass out on the main lake. Good move. After fishing there a while I felt my spinnerbait just stop and get heavy. I thought I was in the grass so I just started reeling hard to break it loose. I'm glad it didn't break loose cause it turned out to be our 3rd keeper that was also a lil over 3 lbs. A few casts later I felt a hard thump on my spinnerbait. I set the hook and the fight was on. I fought it about half way to the boat and my rod just went limp. It just felt like the weight of my bait was on there. I started reeling hard as I told Terry "Oh my goodness he just came off". I think that was the shortest moment of disappointment i've ever had cause after a few more turns of the reel it got real heavy again. Apparently that durn fish turned and started swimming straight toward me for a coulple of seconds. Terry netted it and it was a 4 lb'er. We cuuld the 16.5 incher. That gave us 10.44 lbs. Good enough for 3rd place. 1st money i've ever won in a tournament.
