Hal and I had one of our better days this year, at least since the spring. We still caught small crappie, but we had 20 keeper size out of 57 crappie that we caught. We had at least 5 or 6 that were over 13.5" and really fat. We didn't take pics of the good fish that we caught today. But the largest one was 13.75 inch Black Crappie. We also caught probably 5 keeper white crappie today. We fished docks, one bluff, vertical structure, and deep points. The best fish came off deep points in the river. 2 little spots tried to take our BG shads away and 1 small yellow bass. We released most of our fish. I did keep 5 crappie for dinner again tonight. They were so good on Monday that we thought that we ought to eat fish again this week. <br /><br />Again, like Monday, the fish were deep. But they were a little more aggressive today as we are nearing the new moon phase. Fish always bite more aggressively during new/full moon phases. Don't ask me why. They just do. Water temp when we started this AM was 82.6 and warmed up to 85 by noon as we quit fishing a little bit after noon. Hal and I both experimented with different colors today. We wanted to see if the fish preferred one color over another. We had 2 or 3 colors that the fish really liked and 4 or 5 colors that they didn't bite all that well. My favorite color was the best for me today. Ghastly Minnow slab slayer on 1/16 jig head. Hal had really good luck on Blue Ice and Bleeding Shad. We used 1/32 oz jigs on docks and 1/16 oz jigs on other structures. Good current in the river today. That always seems to turn the fish on. We caught some fish on Outlaw Special, Blue Ghost, Crystal Minnow, Green Hornet, Bluegrass and Screamers. <br /><br />Hal didn't lose a jig today and I only lost 3 or 4.
