Fished Monday night and Wednesday night, bith days from around 8:30pm - 12:30 am. Monday I caught 9 crappie, tonight I caught 13. Both days about the same size, a few 14" and the rest around 12", tho tonight I did catch 2 that barely broke 10". .
Monday I actually was fishing for rockfish but grabbed a dozen tuffies just because, was actually the 1st time I have used tuffies this year. Was sitting in a mouth of a cove where my son had previously caught some nice rockfish.
55 feet deep with no structure whatsoever even close. I had small shiners and the crappie would not hit them, but i went thru the dozen tuffies. All of them were caught between 20-25 feet.
I did have a small homemade light dropped in the water.
Wednesday just went out to see if i could repeat as I have never caught crappie in the middle of nowhere before.
caught a bunch of small stripe, figured my luck had run out but around 9:30 I started catching crappie. Was like they were making a big circle, i would go for a bit with no bites, then I would double up.
Had 3 poles in the water at that time but had to pull one as it was too hectic. Lasted about an hour. caught 8 of the thirteen within 45 minutes of each other, the rest was a long wait, but then i would catch 2 within minutes of each other.
Had 24 tuffies and they were gone at 12:30 thanks to the small stripe.

Wish i could give a hint to some type of structure, but there wasn't any. just right in the middle of a cove, a good 40 yards from shore, bottom was as flat as can be in all directions.
Go figure
Oh, tried a few shiners again tonight. only caught one on the shiners, and they were small shiners........they just loved the tuffies. Also tried a jigging spoon, a beetlespin and a couple bobby garlands - only caught them on the tuffies, all of them between 20-25 feet
