After seeing the total decimation at Condie I went to Weston. Took a few pics. and caught a few bass at the damn and went home.
Again, I let the pics. speak for themselves. Weston ome what better, but low. [frown] Bass were biting and healthy though. [

I think Weston should be okay. I've seen it pretty close to that low and it survived alright. It's just more proof of how Condie's death was completely unnecessary. I hope the owner of the canal company is devoured by rabid badgers following a violent rape at the hands of an incensed water buffalo.

Once again Greg Weston has a creek that flows into it constantly.... even with the irragation it has some constant flow.

That creek is pretty tiny, I don't see it accounting for that much of a difference. The drop in water at Condie increased dramatically after the decision was made to not allow the dam even though the weather was actually cooling a little bit. I'm still not buying it.

Here is the catch the same "tube" that feeds twin lakes feeds condie when the creek drys up because the creek into condie drys up every year. And they have the inlet open at twin lakes. And have closed off the outlet because they were losing money due to lack of recreators. They drained condie to prove a point. This is not that dry of a year ive scene equally as dry a few times and im only 24. I remember a few winters with very very little snow pack. And dry summers. Just a bunch of greedy people is all it is. Condie is the only one that is about dry now. Winder is normal for this time of year foster is normal for this time of year all of them are at normal levels for the time of year. But not condie . And knowing the area as well as I do ill tell you there are 3 others station reservoirs next to condie that are private no public access there about the size of condie and 2 of them are pretty full they feed the same canal. Like said there just being bullys and killing our fishing wat

One thing you also need to remember is that not all reservoirs are created equal. In some of the reservoirs they can't physically draw it down past a certain point. There is an automatic survival pool. Devil's Creek is one, and if I remember correctly, Weston is another.
Still, what a horrible year!

That's good to know. If Weston died too, I probably wouldn't buy a license next year as it's my last refuge from the power squad. I'll probably still buy one if it's okay. Still, it's pretty heartbreaking to see Condie like this. It was such an amazing year there too before they killed it.

Well, like I said, I am hoping that I remember right on that!!
Deep Creek might also be one.
Chesterfield they can kill off, and used to do so every low water year. I know that F&G along with Pocatello City were negotiating with Marsh Valley Canal Co for a reserve pool there, but I don't know if they got it or not.
I wish that they could get one on all the reservoirs, but sometimes it just isn't possible to get or buy those water rights.
Plus F&G don't have a big budget to work with. What some of you may not know is that Idaho's F&G do NOT receive any general tax or state moneys. They only funds they have are what comes from the licenses they sell. They have to walk a pretty fine line, and their salaries are dirt. They aren't there for the bucks and an easy job!! They are understaffed and can never do all they would like. Or what we would like either unfortunately!

Well, I agree with most of what you say, makes sense, But. ------, a state trophy bass fishery and no effort to recover and re plant in other areas???? Seems to go beyond waste and lack of concern tor the fishery!!!! [mad]

I know they're poorly paid and understaffed, it's one of the reasons I changed my major when I was younger, though I plopped my self right down into a similar situation with my current work. I do think Dave cares, but the other guy I've talked to hasn't really seemed like he wanted to be bothered with it. If he would have passed the info along when I first started calling, maybe they could have at least salvaged some fish. My purpose in wanting to talk to Dave certainly isn't to chew him out or anything of that nature, I'm just curious what his take is on it, and I have some questions for him about other area reservoirs. Unfortunately work has been far too hectic this week (for both of us from the sound of it) to talk.
I keep hoping some of these clouds coming in will bring rain, but no luck so far.

The also rarely use one of their best sources of help in this type of situation and that is the anglers themselves. From the majority of my experience and from what I have read when an area is cleaned up or taken care of it is often an effort that comes from an angling group like trout unlimited. It's unfortunate that they couldn't have some type of volunteer group or a way to request volunteers from the many outdoorsmen that use that reservoir because I can guarantee there would be several that would gladly donate their time to ensure that those fish are not wasted.

For sure, that is one of the reasons I was calling. I would have been more than happy to help them salvage some fish. Now it's beyond that point.

The bass clubs would have gladly helped transfer the fish but they can not do it with out the concent of f&g.You say they are under funded what about all the new pickups/4-wheelers/ snowmobiles/ boats? It is time they went to work instead of driving around all day trying to ticket some one. They have an opertunity to save our fish and they dont wont to get thier hands durty!!!!!!Lack of funs is a cop out!!!!! If you worked like they do you would be uninployed!!!!!

The last time I fished there I caught a lot of good sized fish and it was tough turning them back to die. I wanted to collect them all and cart them off to a new home. I had two that were bleeding too, and I would have liked to have kept them for dinner, but back to be wasted they went. What a shame.
