ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND CULVERT REPAIRS PLANNED FOR LAKE MEAD NATIONAL
RECREATION AREA
LAS VEGAS, NV –Construction activities are scheduled to begin during the
week of September 5, 2012 for pavement preservation at Callville Bay Access
Road, Lakeshore Drive and various side roads and parking lots in the
Boulder Harbor area. Visitors should expect delays due to temporary lane
closures and occasional parking lot closures throughout the construction
period. Work will occur during weekdays only.
The pavement preservation portion of the project consists of crack seal
treatment, pothole patching and the application of sealcoat and chips with
a top slurry seal. Culvert repairs will consist of the construction of a
new concrete outlet structure, placement of riprap rock and the
installation of gabion boxes. Construction is scheduled to end October 31,
2012.
This project will improve the existing asphalt pavement at Callville Bay,
Lakeshore Drive and the various asphalt pavement areas in the Boulder Beach
area. The project will also improve the drainage characteristics of the
West End Wash culvert system for future flash flood events.
Funding for this $3,3031,726 project has been provided through a joint
funding agreement with Federal Highways Administration and the Lake Mead
National Recreation Area. The contractor is Abide International based out
of California.
