Hit the Riverpark about 6:45 planning to pursue those wily Brownfish. Headed up to the dam to try for some bait. No other boats around. Got plenty of bait in 2 throws, just not quite as large as I would like. Had about 8 really prime size threadfin. Had some breaking fish and picked up a couple decent LM on sm fluke. Switched to foley spoon and caught several med. white bass and a couple skippys.

Decided to try a drift from just below the boil, only running 1 gen and about 7K current. Not the best conditions. Had a good pull down almost immediately, and after a couple spectacular jumps, netted a nice 20" SM. Good way to start. Continued the drift below the RR Bridge and had another bite with a strong run and then a jump. Another nice SM about 3.75#

I-pilot anchor and another bait drift and another wack, 6# Channel Cat. emoBang , not what I was looking for. Caught another Ch Cat and decided to head back to the boil for the next drift. About 1/2 way down had a bait just hammered and another jumper. Gotta love those Smallmouth jumpers. Best one of the day, 21" and pushing 4.75# Next 2 bites were DRUM, largest about 12#. Then another ch cat.

Had on large threadfin left and it paid off with another nice SM. Then with smaller bait, got a Humpy SM.

About 9:15 the bass bite totally quit. I did find some large gizzard shad finally, but nothing doing. Saw Dwaye Pruiet on the shore and he joined me in the boat for a few drifts, but no more bites. Combination of sun and low flow I guess. Had a fun morning, with 2 LM, 5 SM, several white bass, 3 ch cats, 2 drum, and couple skippys. A typical day on the river. Messed up one SM picture, got nice shot of my arm, lol.

Regards, Labman
