Guys Waleye is out with an injury so i have enlisted a replacement so that Avery
venture can still play. Prvrt is willing to join his team. im just wondering if every one is ok with this?
things have kind of slowed down since ddahl3 kicked off the season with a fatty doe and snuck his team in to the lead. so i take not many are archery hunting deer this september. either way i know the contest this year will be awesome and should be very competitive.
have fun and be safe.
lets start seeing some deer photos.

Well guys I killed a fat doe this past weekend, forgot pics. I could take one of the body though. Just getting ready to cut her up. I do it all myself.

gonna need that picture of the body man your teammate is depending on it. if every body is ok with the body picture i will count it. make sure you have something in the picture that says 2012.

I have a deer to check in but I'm pretty bumbed about the whole deal. Bear with me as I tell my story.
I drew the 60-2 either sex tag. It started on Oct. 5th and goes to Nov. 17. I knew I had a chance at a big buck and I was planning on holding out for one.
Saturday, I got into alot of doe and a couple nice bucks. I could have taken a shot at a big 4 point at about 400 yards but he was walking fast and I decided to not shoot.
Sunday morning I went back to the same area that I saw the big buck in and went to push a little patch of quakys and spotted a deer at 100 yards peeking through the trees at me. I pulled the binos and caught a glimpse of antlers in the trees as he turned his head. It was pretty thick so I couldn't tell how big he was. I had just a small window to get a shot behind the shoulder.
My ten year old son was with me and was saying "shoot him dad, shoot him". I figured it was the same buck I saw the day before so I decided to chance it. Well, I dropped the hammer on him and he fell like a ton of bricks. After high fiving my son we went to check him out and we found a 4 point minus 2! The tree branches made him look a lot bigger! I about started to cry. I shot a dang fork horn! I still can't get over it. I am so mad at myself for not being 100% positive it was the big buck.
I guess I learned a lesson for next time. If I ever draw a tag like this again. Hope none of you guys do the same dumb thing. On the positive note, it was time with my son. He was stoked that we shot a buck. And we have meat in the freezer! Here is my picture for the Mikkfin wall of shame!

Hey man don't be down on yourself. mistakes happen and what you were able to experience with your son will last a life time for him. im sure it didn't matter if it was a fork n horn to him.
anyways thats 9 points for your team and currently puts you guys in the lead.

actually its a solid 10 points after looking at the picture with your boy in it. it has a little forked crab claw on its left side.

Looks like one happy kid to me. I remember my brother and i talking my father into shooting a puny little bear when i was maybe ten. The only part my father regretted was when he had to bring it to the fish biologist for tooth and tissue samples. I suppose this feeling would have been the opposite of bringing a 370 bull or 180 whitetail to the taxidermist.
I am almost thirty now and that was a great experience and i have not forgotten that.

Thanks for the encouraging words guys. I'm starting to get over it. My kid is still pretty proud. I can't wait for 2 more years when he is the one pulling the trigger. I'm taking him duck hunting this Saturday. Hopefully I will have some pictures to post of his kill.
