Sorry for the late report. I fished government wash with my girlfriend on the 26th and 27th of august. The water looked a bit dirtier than i remember it, must be from the recent rain showers. Anyways i just soaked anchovies all day/night for both days. didnt bring any lures with me, i just wanted to sit and have a few cold ones. [cool]
Ended the first day with lots of bites and missed fish. I think they were really small stripers and catfish. I downsized my gear and was able to hook into a decent 2.5lb cat around 10pm the first day. Shortly after we called it quits. The next day we moved to another spot closer to where people launch their kayaks, jet skis etc....did a lot better there.
I stuck with the smaller setup size 1-1/0 hooks and about a 1/4 piece of anchovy seemed to do the trick. by 8pm we had 8 fish. 4 cats, 3 stripers and 1 lmb. I didnt even know the lmb was on until I went to bring in the line and rebait. I thought I was hung up on some weeds when I was bringing it in. He didn't fight until he was 10 yards away then I knew it was a fish haha. All the fish were about 1 to 2lbs maybe nothing huge but still fun. Thanks for reading.
Forgot to mention, since it was so hot and humid those two days. I took a quick dip in the water for a few minutes and ended up cutting myself on some damn beer bottle glass while getting out of the water. You can see the cut on my wrist in the photo with the largemouth. [pirate]
