Going to the Gorge on Sept. 19. Anybody got a fishing report for the Macs or bows? Haven't been there in quite some time but having a family get together there and want to try to catch some fish. We will be by the damn and will have a boat. Any suggestions on catching some fish would be helpful.

Fishing for lake trout pups has been pretty good as of late. Check Jarvies Bay on Gold Point, the point at the Jarvies Campground, the east wall at the bottom of the bay. Most of the lakers have been hanging 70-110 ft and can be caught while trolling spoons or jigging with tubes or jigging spoons tipped with sucker meat.
Rainbows are all over the place and have mostly been from 20-40 ft. Casting jigs or trolling small spoons, pop gear, etc will work. Fish close to shore. I've also heard of some people catching rainbows off the fishing pier at the Dam, using bait (Powerbait, night crawlers).
Smallmouth bass have also been on fire, and as the water cools some bigger fish can be caught. Pitch jigs (tubes and curly tails) in earthtone colors towards shore. Fish deeper 20-30 ft for the bigger smallies. The little ones will keep you really busy in the shallows.
The reservoir is still in the mid-70s, so a little cooling will only make the fishing better, hopefully by the time you get here.
Good luck, Ryno
