Hey gang, me and my friends have a trip to Jackpot planned this weekend and are planning to fish SFCR on Friday. We do not have a boat so it will be from the bank or our float tubes. I have perused the recent reports and it looks like either the far south (backwaters to Big Sand) or far north (Dam) areas are the best bets for this kind of fishing. Any advice from the group as I have never fished there? I read some concerning reports about weeds/algae in the south, can anyone confirm or refute? Thanks!

I fished Salmon falls this last Sat. The area from Norton Bay north is your best bet. Goose Island is not an island and the water around it is mud stained and only three feet deep. We did our best for walleye between 10 and 30 ft. Norton bay would be the last area to have decent depth. Around 20 ft. The bay just north of Norton was where we really caught some fish. Unfortunatly they were mostly small. The bigger fish came from Greys landing area.
Good luck

Fished it sat as well with lots of small walleye and a few really nice trout along with some regular planter trout. most of ours came from greys landing south. we fished woolly buggers in blood red, blue, black and brown. the wife fished mainly Thomas buoyant and perch rapalas. seen lots of tubes out and pontoons if you have em take them. But i did see quite a few bank fisherman toting fish as they left. Most of our fish came from 10 to 20 feet deep .
