My son took time out from the busy life of a 19 yr old working two jobs to fish yesterday. We decided to hit the dam again after Heath and I had such a great day Saturday. What a difference a day, plus a cold front makes.
We got started about 30 minutes later than I wanted as Hunter had invited an old friend along and was late. The whites and skips were tearing it up on the rock bar while we waited....and watched. We got to it and caught two whites and a few skips before it went cold on us, and I made the call to get some live bait to see if anything was hungry. I hadn't fooled with the bait sine the spring. I picked up some great threadfins in the discharge and we started drifting to no avail. Not a bite, at all. Tried along the coffer dam, nothing, so we moved over behind the rock wall and picked up a few spots, two LM, a channel and three blue cats before it just died on us. TVA was running 12K I think I saw and water temps were 79ish, but Im thinking it was the front that had the fish messed up.
I opted to get some skips in the boat and catfish, so we anchored in front of the pier and got into them pretty good, catching about 40 even though I only kept 6 for bait, it was fun for Hunters friend who had never fished before.
We dropped off Jacob and headed for some cat holes. We had three bites over the next 2.5 hours, with zero hookups and called it a day. At least the weather was nice and I got to bless a guy on the bank with a couple fish for his dinner when we loaded the boat.
