Started off in shallow grass like so many others and we just could not get on them. They were there this past Monday cause that is what me and James caught some really nice ones on. They were crushing a spook. Don't know why they moved or got lock jaw but they did. May have been the last couple hot days heated the water back up again. We started moving around and going deeper. By around nine thirty we had a small limit off shakeys but nothing very big. We knew if we were going to keep our place in the standing we had better find something else. Moved some more and each time went deeper. We finally started nailing some nice keepers in the 15 to 20 foot range with rock and structure. There were also some drops mixed in. Culled all three of the ones we had to start with. Both of us went to a t-rigged worm. James had on a finesse worm but it was one of those thick ones like a cigar. I had on a big 10 inch culprit worm and they seemed to want it. James got our two biggest, one was second biggest bass of the tournament at 5.87 lbs. He also got one over four. I had a couple really nice solid mid threes. Our best three was 13.32 lbs which was good enough for second place. emoThumbsup Our best five today would have gone about 20 lbs so we had a good day. I also caught another big cat. Hit like a bass on that big worm. I set the hook and thought I had another eight for big bass of the tournament. I could not turn it and just had to wear it down. I knew then it was not what we were looking for. Ended up being a 24 lb flathead. Cool looking one, really looked camouflaged.

Jerry and Earl really came on strong and left us no room to falter. I believe they came in at third place with 11 something. emoWorthy I have really enjoyed the CFF this year. It seemed to me we had less issues and most had a very good time. Looking forward to the classic. emoTongue

Thanks to the committee as usual for all the hard work, keeping us safe and making it fun. emoToast Jmax
