The furthest north I've ever been along the Jordan was at the 5400S. Parkway. I walked both north and south of the parking lot. From what I remember, I wasn't very impressed because I remember it being very straight and I remember seeing so many fish it it...there was litterally thousands of carp in it. Has any1 ever fished or even walked along it north of 5400s.? If so can you please say where you went, if you caught any, if the area looked like it had any good holes, etc. BTW, i'm mostly interested in catching cat fish. I think there might be some really big ones North because they probably are old and have been traveling down stream for a while.

I've seen suckers in that area swimming around with their backs out of the water. Also hooked into a channel cat, but he got off at the bank. I think there are cats all along the river. I was north of 5400. Just kept walking until the current looked slow enough to keep my jig on the bottom.

ya i tried fishun for some cats with white bass meat at 3900 south and i would have been able to fish the little spring i found but went back and there was a little town of homeless poeple that got really upset that i was fishing by there so called homes, so i got out of there, i think ill stick to fishing more south cause its better there anyways.

This is interesting, as I was wondering about this exact thing yesterday. I started fishing Millcreek down on 9th west and 3000 south (approx) and followed it down to where it dumped into the Jordan. I was throwing flies, looking for carp, but was surprised to pull in a few white bass and some other fish that I didn't see -- I think it was a mudder that was foul-hooked. Anyhow, I never got Mr. Carp or Mr. Sucker, but I did see plenty of monsters spook along the banks. It seemed like good cat water to me, but I have read on this and other boards that the farther north you go, the worse the fishing gets.
Is this just, you know, an opinion, man -- or is there some truth to this? TubeDude? Anyone?
I think I'll head back one of these nights and give it a go and let you all know.

I work with a guy who went around 40th so where the river joins. He hooked a small smallmouth bass.

Interesting. Thanks for the info about Mill Creek. By question is there any particular reason why the fishing gets worse the more north u go? I theorized that there could be some real monsters and big ones far north because that's obviously really down stream. I think unless it's fish that resulted from a breeding population down stream that theoretically they should be bigger down there because they should be older fishh since its so far away from Utah Lake. I do suspect the number of fish to go down, as it's not right by Utah Lake, the supplier of the fish in the river, but I would think they'd get bigger as u go more north. I won't reveal my particular fishing spots but I've fished south and north spots and haven't noticed any difference. As long as it's good structure and not canal like, I've caught just as many fish in the northern areas.

i dont think its really worse fishing just more and less of species the farther north you go. for example the farthest north i have gotten into LMB, gills or crappie has been about 7200 south now northwards ive noticed tons of both catfish and suckers aswell as carp and the occasional trout or eye. but if i were to go off of strait up bites and action for sure south but there are some monsters throughout the norhtern section. also certain spots north can be sketch to fish by yourselff depending on the time of day.
we need to get out and fish the jordan sometime, it sounds like you fish it alot like me.

Yea dude we totally should. That's the one thing about it being northernish is that i've heard it's "sketchy". Most of my friends don't like fishing either. Earlier in the summer, I was fishing it every week, sometimes like 3 times in a week. I've only gotten skunked 1 trip out of many times i've gone... The night I got skunked, I got ate alive by mosquitos. I think they had more than enough food that night and didn't bite as a result. You should send me a pm and we can exchange cell phone numbers and such and we can go sometime

Yeah...one day on my lunch I had a guy following me around asking if I had any money. Nope. "You got a debit card?" "Why" "You should buy me a fishing license. Let me cast your pole now." Seriously, there are some sketchy folks around that area. I've thought about fishing with my .357 revolver strapped to my leg but then I just go fish somewhere better instead.

Every time I fish the Jordan, I'm packing heat. That whole stretch of river attracts a lot of crime. The farthest north I've fished is 44th south or so, and all I've caught down that far are large carp and suckers, but i would bet there are some large cats down there. I once talked to guy who claimed he caught a 20 inch brown as far north as the fairgrounds.
Personally, from 55th south is the best in my opinion if you want to target other types besides carp/suckers.
