More of a scouting trip than a fishing trip (sorry - it's a long one). Challenged myself to hit 4 lakes in one day and catch a fish at each lake. Left the boat home, not knowing what launch conditions lay ahead, and figured I'd save the time and just bank it.
It was my first time to most of these lakes, and didn't expect much for catching, so much as looking. Then I'll know what I'm in for when I do bring the boat... I can sure see where a tube or toon might be good on some of them small lakes.
Started at Johnson, with plans to jump to Lamont after. Nice neighbors. Bumped into a crew getting a small craft down to launch. Challenge was getting through the green quicksand. Weeds on top of gushy slippery mud. Hard to get a line out beyond the weedy edge, but did tinker with some small bites, landed a bitty bluegill, saw some decent bass, but they weren't playing. Tired of donating worms, moved on.
Lamont was also low, but has a much longer launch. Had a few bumps from some small bass nearer the launch, then decided to hoof it over to the inlet (wasn't the only one to 'hoof' it), a good spot on many lakes. Pitched my chigger craw around to standup wood, and got some bumps. Finally hooked into one, got a look before it got off, but jeepers one of the longest skinniest bass I've seen.

After a bunch of misses, decided to turn over to a spinner. Then I hooked up, and realized those long "bass" were some of the skinniest palest planter bows I've run into in some time. But tugs is tugs. Landed a limit in about 15 minutes, but wasn't interested in chilling with Trout today, so they all went back. But I kept playing - worked up the river a bit and they were still on it. Certainly hanging deeper. Who ever thunk to drop silly bows in a nice warmwater bass lake.
Interesting stack of teepees near the inlet. All quiet till round noon, one boat showed up to go joyriding. Turned from calm and peaceful to wavy mucky edges fast. And they weren't even pulling anyone (or fishing) just buzzing around - Sunday drive I guess.

Moved up to find Foster - wasn't easy, wasn't much to find. Did bump into a little green friend, and after gauging where the goo began, ran into some little yellow friends. After weeding through a few superdinks, ran into some in the 8" range, but none of the 14" Idaho toads I've been hoping to meet. Did pick a peck to chill out with.

Bumped into a bitty gill, and several more slimy mugs. Was thinking about trying the inlet, but a family moved in, so I moved on.
Ran into a few lost and found items - someone lost weight, anther snapped his worm, and someone must have had a party, because they lost their balloon, who knows what else. My CSI senses were alerted, and there were definite signs of a struggle at the end of the launch area (which was some 30-40 ft from waterline.

Had gone from breezy to blazing. But one more stop. Glendale also showed definite struggles at the end of the ramp. Interesting note - the RAMP is actually there, it's just so covered with muck - you can't reach the end. (anyone got a tractor?) Goal was to catch at least one fish, so had to try. Wandered down the steep slopes, and got to "shore's edge" - well - 10 ft up - pitched in, and got a bump. Hooked up another silly slimer. Knew they were there, met some my one ice trip - we jumped out to the ice a couple feet below the bushes. What a difference. Bumped into a few more troutlets, and one tinsy bass. But hey - made species four for the day.

4 lakes, 4 species, fish at each. Uncountable number of perchies, at least a couple dozen slimers. Nothing of significance for size. Sure if I could get on a float, might have more chance to mess with some bigger ones.
