Hit the river about 7:30 and NO flow until 10:00. Got some real nice threadfin bait on the first throw and since there was no current decided to do some downlining. Was marking large schools of bait and larger fish at about 20'. First fish was a channel cat and the next a bue cat emoBang I hate to waste good bait catching catfish. Then I had a good hit and some head shakes, and up comes a really nice Smallmouth 22" and about 5.5#. That's what I was looking for. Even though there was no flow the fish were working bait pods down deep with some hitting on the surface. Although I didn't see anyone catching any on top other than some skippies.

I think there were 4 boats of CFF members at the dam. Saw RSimms and Spur, Sam Simons, and one other I forget the name, sorry. Got some 2" silver foley spoons from Spurhunter, he delivers on the water now, lol.

After catching some more cats and a couple white bass, had a hit and strong run on a downline. I was guessing what it was, and after a couple more runs got the fish up and landed a Striped Bass (Rockfish) 10.2# A pleasant surprise this early in the season. All in all I had 4 Channel Cats, 2 Blue Cats, 2 white bass, Smallie, Rockfish, and a large White Crappie that tried to eat a 5" shad emoScratch

Had a fun morning, and for a change did better with no current than I did after they start generating at 10:00. All fish released and headed for home about 12:30

Regards, Labman
