I live downtown slc and was looking for some close to home fishing. Someone suggested little dell and I was looking for some info on it. Like where to fish, regulations, pay for parking etc. Any help would be great.

In a nut shell, it is Artificial flies, and Lures. No scent. Catch and release. specially the Bonneville Cutts. No swimming, wading (unless in waders). Float Tubes, Pontoons, Kayaks, Canoes welcome, no wind sailers as you are likely to end up IN the water.
No pets.
$5.00 to park in lower level but there is times you can do this. The park is closed for the winter for parking but you may still fish.
Anyway, read the rules and have a blast. The inlet is a great place to start.

Let me correct you there FG.
Wind surfers are allowed. Been there a few times as well as many other windsurfers in Utah. Dry suits required though.

I stand corrected Mr Little Dell[
], You must wear dry suit. I was there when several were told to leave because they were in shorts.
Do you wade through the river?

What flies and lures work? I'm a fly and spin fisherman and would be interested in doing both. Also what is there to catch up there?

Yep, 90 degree weather and a dry suit. Makes sense to me.

I use Chironomids, but I am not the expert here.

No I jump it to get to the other side. But if I fish the river I do wear my waders. I used to have a dry suit in my younger years but these days I would not fit in it anymore.

Gold Kastmasters are extremely effective. Silver is a good choice.
Now CD rapalas in rainbow trout and strike king red eye shad in Baby Carp and bad to the bone color work.
There is a jig called Arkie crawlin jig that works too.

LD's has been fishing really good the last couple times I've been. There's PMD's hatching in the mornings, and the fish have been taking dries pretty good and close to shore too.
However, as soon as the weather gets warm and or windy, the fishing stops cold, but you still may pick up a few fish on a lure/jig or a streamer.

And it is only gonna get better as fall moves along.

You guys would have had to put you eyeballs back in your head if you had been at the Lake up north. Right next to the boat launch you could see hundreds of Yellowstone cutts 18" and larger swimming 15' from shore. Plop a chironomid out there 11" below an indicator and pull one in every cast. I can now see why that is a popular spot. Like a big ol' bucket.

Damit Joni, I can't afford to go up there this fall, so quit already.[

Bad weather at the Dell=Awesome fishing.
One of my best days was the day before Halloween one year in a nasty blizzard. I would chuck a big old gold kastmaster way out into the chop, so poor conditions that i could't even see it hit. I would get hits fast and hard.
It was very eerie experience out there alone in the blizzard catching these slabs all by myself. Storm dies down, sun came up and it turned off. Need to dig up the pics...

I remember that storm. My friend was up there that day and knocked them dead too.

i read from you that it gets really good in the fall and have yet to really fish it seriously during that time. maybe we need to hook up and hit one weeknight soon, i just live at the mouth of parleys canyon so its close.

I just looked up chironomids. I never used them before but I think I'll try . I used various wet flies and nymphs when I used to fly fish but never tried those. I presume you tie your own. Any specific patterns and colors that you favor?
