I am heading up to do a cast and blast with a good friend on Lake Chatcolet or Chatcolet Lake. I understand from him that there are walleyes and smallies in the lake. I have yet to be able to find out any more since he just hunts there. I would like to fish a couple of days and have tackle for most species. I am not looking for any honey holes. I would just like some general information on the lake, species of fish and any other additional information. You can send me a PM if you prefer. Thank you in advance.

Never heard of any eyes in there but it has a healthy population of pike. And this is a great time of the year to catch them. Just start working weed lines and structure with a large spinner bait and you should be able to hook into a few. I've also been hearing good things from guys fishing swim baits on a umbrella rig. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Thanks for the information. My dad called walleyes pike as a kid. I have been wanting to catch a northern so this will be a good chance. What about panfish in there? Any crappies or perch or bluegills? Any trout?

It's got it all. Perch, Bluegill and Sunfish will be smallish but you may find some nice Crappie. Try around the trestles and the house boats. There's trout but I would hit the Joe for them. If you like trolling you can hit the main lake for Chinook and Kokanee.

The trestle that crosses the benewah has been producing some good numbers of crappie lately . My dad caught about 25 keepers in about 2 hrs last week. I fished it a few times in late spring and they were slabs, however you usually have to throw a bunch of smaller ones back.
