Pineview Port Ramp is now free to launch. There are no access from the docks to shore, so you will have to beach your boat. I managed a few crappie today and one small mouth.

WOW! Nice haul! So pontoons would be real easy to launch?
[signature]
Yes it would be very easy to launch pontoons, fish were caught shallow 10 to 13 feet.

Right On. I think I will try next week. Have to look up where this ramp is however. It has been MANY years since I have been there.
Thank you!

You can go to either ramp, they told us last weekend it would be the last of them charging to launched this year. We were at the Cemetery point launch.
Fishnutts- nice haul on the crappie Tim, that was what we were looking for as well but no luck for us[frown].

I called up there and spoke to a woman at anderson cove.( just called a general number and for some reason thats who I got).. She told me that Cemetery and anderson closed there gates but i could use Port free to launch my pontoon. I asked about parking outside the gate at cemetery and she said that was not aloud.. Did I get bad info?? Ive always launched from the free beaches at PV even during off season but this fall and next spring I was wanting to start using the ramps to launch my pontoon because of the low water and long walks from my usual spots.

Thanks for the info. I know the same company that operates the Port Ramp concession, does the Cemetery point(CP) ramp as well but I did not know they closed the CP ramp at the end of the season. I have never heard that you can't launch a pontoon anywhere around the lake, I've even carried a small boat down to the water and never had a problem, so I doubt that could be true unless something changed. K2Musky gave us an Email address last week to someone that is in charge of Pineview, I guess we could contact him to be sure.

Sorry I should clarify my last post.
You are right about being able to launch a pontoon just about anywhere. There are tons of access points that are free all year. What i asked her was... If the gate at Cemetery was closed during off season could I park outside of the gate and walk in with my pontoon? She said that I could not use Cemetery if the gates are closed. But she did confirm that Port is open and free to use. Just seems strange because I swear in the past I have heard that CP is usually open and free through fall and winter as well.
My favorite free place to launch it Browning point but man thats a long walk with the low water up there right now.
@fishnutts..Also wanted to say nice job on the crappie. I most likely will be up there in the next few days.. If you see a dude with a scruffy beard on an orange pontoon stop by and say hello.

you can't park outside the gate at the ramp but,Cemetery point's parking lot at the end of the road is now free. just have to carry or drag your toon down the sandy beach to the water. going down not bad its the climb back up that kills me.

Nice job on the crappie, what time of day were you there? I was up there from 4 til dark and fished the narrows. I caught a lot of crappie but none were over 5 inches, looks like we'll have a lot of up and comers in the future. Man, that boat ramp sure is a mess, got take it really slow.

I'm
. So if I wanted to launch my boat at pineview tomorrow would I be able to?

From what I get, launching is easy and Free. It is what to do with you vehicle after you have launched that is the question.
[signature]
Just park in the parking lot if launching from the Port Ramp. Don't launch from Cemetery Point so unsure if there is a gate or not. Port Ramp has no gates.

Yes you can Launch your boat at the port ramp for free, you can also park your vehicle in the parking lot above the ramp for free. The walkway from the docks to shore has been removed, hence you must beach your boat. The only question i don't have an answer for, is that it sounds like they are starting to work on repairing the Ramp (info from a recent report), so i don't know if they are preventing access to the ramp or not, while the work is being done.

K2 or Perchound may have so additional info on the boat ramp repair?

Previously and roughly 5-6 years ago with low water they only shut down half the ramp at a time for repairs. I haven't been up there in the past few days so I'm still hoping half the ramp is open. When open the ramp will allow at least 4-5 boats to launch and retreive at a time...depending on the size of the boat of course.
Based on my e-mail conversations with the Federal Forest Service Manager that was the plan repair half the ramp at a time...so guess we'll find out very soon. I can't see them shutting down the entire ramp but again ya just never know just VERY glad they're repairing it. [

Now I'll and others I hope will work on getting lights installed in the parking lot area and also lights for the ramp area...taking one bite out of the Forest Service at a time...maybe we can also request this area get a few plows to run through a couple times during the winter...now that will take some doing...tried in the past...[frown]
