You won't be catching any steelhead near Island Park. You can catch trout in just about any water in the park. Techniques vary depending on the water. Flies and lures on most of the rivers, many of which have special regulations, so you'll need to read the rules for each water.

Worm and Mallow or whatever your favorite bait is from the bank. From a boat I'd try flies fished deep or lures. Shouldn't be too hard to get a trout in IP.

Wish I could help you but I do not get that way to often. But what was already said no steelhead there however its a good time of year for trout. [fishon]

Will you be in a boat or fishing from shore ?

Most likely the shore.

The river up there is awesome. I caught 22" cutts out of the river there at Macks Inn.

Right under the bridge there. It is maybe 2 1/2' deep to maybe 3' to cross the river so wade able.
I was using flies. I had a little bead head Prince nymph on a dropper of about 24" off a Yellow Elk Hair Caddis. That place is a blast. I even had a double. A 12" Brookie on the Prince and a 14" Cutt on the Caddis. Some good size white fish too..
Check the lake shore lines though. They can school up there.
