Monday

Before work I decided to hit up Lower Bells Reservoir. Got up there before the sunrise over Thunder Mountain. Man is that water low for this time of year.


Met a fly guy already hammering the fish......so I joined him and got one before the wind picked up....could not get a nibble with the wind. Water is VERY shallow and the weeds are still choking up the water....so no nymphing. Spent one hour total up there......and only got the 1 fish.


The fall colors are BEAUTIFUL up there....but the east sunlight makes for terrible lighting.


Thursday

After getting my "chores" done I made it up the Little Dell....the gate is open and they are still charging the $5 fee. The fall colors on the beach are great right now.




Saw a fisherman in my spot across the lake....turned out to be BFT's Catcherman! I had the goal of getting a fish on my new 8w rod.....and I finally got one!




Everytime I looked over at Catcherman he was reeling in a fish! He was using tube jigs.....so leaving my spin gear at home was a BIG mistake! Did blow some money on a new fly box.....and when we left I decided to walk 5 paces back to see if we left anything.....and sure enough I saw that new fly box of mine sitting all by its lonesome on the beach!

Keep at the flies (although 8 wt is plenty and then some for LD) But use what you got.
Anyway, keep at the fly thing. It will reverse. I went up with some from UWN Sat. Dad caught first on a Kastmaster, then had a quick release. After trying three different sets of flies, the roles reversed. I was getting one on both rods. So, dad came over and cruised right through the lane I was casting. No biggie, I moved over by the launch area. Straight down hill from bathroom. Again started getting on both rods (one 18' deep leader on floating and other Intermediate). Again, dad came over and you guessed it, cruised right through the lane I was casting. This time he hooked up on his second landed. I had landed quite a few more[]
You got to do the time with Fly Fishing.
Soldier Creek should be good this weekend.[]

Looks like someone is following FFL and the 8 wt rod now i see and shall see it up on sundays trip maybe 0.0

By lower bells reservoir u mean that one reservoir in bell canyon that is a short hike right? If that's it then Me and some friends whent hiking there a couple weeks ago and yeah it looked really shallow. I saw one guy fishing it with flys but didn't see him catching anything. It said catch and release only there but honestly I wondered if anything was in it cause of how shallow it is. I'm guessing bad winter kill up there.
