So, my son got his first big game tag this year....A wasatch unit cow elk (that's the greater Currant Creek area). He didn't get a deer tag or anything else, so this is his only chance and it's his first year ever to get to hunt. I took him up hunting for the opening weekend and we hunted our tails off but never even saw an elk (except dead ones in people's trucks!)
It's crazy because the biologist's for the area say there are literally thousands of elk on the unit and they are "everywhere". We hiked into a bunch of different areas and got away from the roads, but just never got into an area that looked like there had been elk around lately.
If there's anyone here that would be willing to share some good areas to try later this week (thurs-fri) I would really be grateful. PM any info you wouldn't want the world to see. I will keep your secrets secret.
