I am taking a road trip and there are 2 lakes I have never been to that are on the list of places I wanna go to.

Joes Valley Res and Millsite

So any advice experiences etc?

I won't have a float tube and will be stuck on shore. I can only take a limited amount of gear as I will be shipping it New Mexico and driving it all back. So what gear should I take?

Joes Valley + Jigs tipped with Chub meat = Good time. Some Big Splake there.

From shore, it's probably better to try from the dam area, or at least that steep side. The fishing is usually pretty fast paced for the splake, cutts, and tigers in JVR.

Take the time to pull over at the creek below Joe's. You won't be sorry, even if you don't catch anything.

In Millsite, if you can't get up the crappy road to the far side of the dam, hit the free access spots on the west side of the lake, where it gets a little rocky and steeper.

The roads are dirt going into there, but most cars should be fine.
