Nasty looking day today but the crappie were calling my name.
The fish didn't seem to mind the rain as much as I did and were in a positive mood.
Last time I fished the Chic conditions were similar with overcast skies/rain and the quality fish seemed willing to cooperate then also. Perhaps I'm on to something here.
Anyhow slow and deep was the way I went with water temperature at 67 degrees. Early morning daylight bite was slow then things picked up around noon.
Had a limit out of the first eighteen fish caught then started to cull.
Thinking I was starting to put the puzzle together I used the electronics to find an area similar to where I had previously caught fish today. After making a pass or two out goes the marker buoy. A few fan casts and no fish. Made a few more passes with the electronics and readjust the marker buoy which has been painted black to make it less obvious to those passing. Couple more casts and up comes a slab. emoBigSmile YES !!

Caught a few other fish today that weren't the targeted species which consisted of two yellow bass and two blue cats.
Called it quits when I reached the 40th crappie with no more than eight shorts.
On the way in, I thought I saw someone I knew fishing from shore. I hollered "Is that David East ?". Yes I'm East was the reply. I stopped by and chatted with him for a while.
Strange story he was telling me.
Earlier while David was fishing under the Wolftever bridge, someone had actually stopped above and threw a Labrador off the bridge and sped away before he could see who it was. The dog was so scared it wouldn't let him help it.
Whats wrong with people?
