Jc Sportfishing Weekly Fish Report.
As the Admiral Seas It
Fishing Report: 10/8/12 to 10/15/12
.

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him has a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can accomodate fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Lets get on with the report for this past week.
BISBEE FISHING TOURNAMENT: Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Tournament, the world’s richest Billfish Tournament, is coming this fall up as the fishing season wraps up in Baja California Sur. This years Bisbee Black and Blue Marlin Tournament will be held October 23rd to 27, 2012 .

LOSCABOS OFFSHORE: October 19-21
WATER: The water has been nice this past week. Lots of Blue water and warm temperatures have made fishing really good.
WEATHER: The weather has been really good. Lots of sunny days and cooler nights. The past 2 days it did seem to get more humid and as I write this report its really cloudy and it looks like rain and I understand there is a tropical storm south of us called Paul. Looking at the weather map it looks like the rain might be coming our way over the next day .
(14.8N, 115.1W) Tropical Storm Paul spins roughly 655 miles to the SSW to the southern tip of Baja California. Paul is holding max sustained wind speeds of 45 knots and has taken on a northwestward track (300 degrees, true) of 8 knots. STORM FORECAST: During the next 24-30 hours, Paul will be in an environment conducive to strengthening: fairly low wind shear, warm sea surface temps and a moist atmosphere/environment. As such, we are expecting modest strengthening from Paul during the next day with max sustained wind of 65 knots forecast on Monday.

Furthermore, the features that are steering Paul - an upper level low near Baja and a ridge centered over Mexico- will remain in place for the next few days. As such, Paul should continue on a favorable NW to Northward path for at least the next couple of days. Moving out of our area.
BILLFISHING: Lots of Blue Marlin reported all week it seems there here to stay for awhile at least all the tournament anglers hope so. One Blue was around the 450lb mark and it was caught on a skip jack. There were reports of quite a few other Blue Marlin in the 170 to 300lb range. I did hear that some of the nice Blues were caught at the 95 and also the 1150. Sailfish and Striped Marlin were still abundant around the Golden Gate. We did bait around 14 Marlin up at the Golden Gate on Friday. Really the Billfishing is wide open this past week.
BAIT: The buy Sardines you have to go to Chilleno Bay . What you do is call the guy on the radio the day before fishing on channel 14, make an order, and pick them up the next morning.
TUNA: The Tuna are being caught on Sardines . A large Tuna was caught around the 95 on live bait. There has been lots of smaller Tuna being caught around Grey Rock. The Tuna there are around to 7 to 20lb. They were caught using Sardines.
DORADO: The Dorado fishing has been wide open for the past 2 weeks. All fleet boats are reporting large numbers of Dorado. Really all the Dorado you want between the Solmar and Los Arcos. The 95 and 1150 areas have been producing lots of Dorado. The Dorado fishing is at its best and its time to call us and schedule your fishing adventure in Cabo San Lucas.
INSHORE: The inshore fishing has been really good lately lots of Grouper and Red Snapper. I have heard of some Roosterfish being caught. The Pangas have been fishing close to shore for Tuna and Dorado and catching fish. Groupers are being caught using live and cut bait at around 40 to 50 feet around the rock on the Pacific side. Just follow some of the local fisherman the really catch a lot on hand lines.
WAHOO: There has been some reports of Wahoo this week but not as much as last week. They are in the area and we expect to see more being caught over the next 2 weeks.

BEWARE: Remember if your not renting charter boats from companies who have been established in Cabo for the past 20 years ( Jcsportfishing, Pisces Sportfishing, Minervas, Redrum, Picante Fleet) you might have problems. There are many sportfishing fleets on the internet who are really not established business, who are operating illegally. Lots of these outfits are renting you a boat they have never even looked at and don’t even know where you would board the boat, leaving you the task of trying to find the boat. They don’t even have an office you can go and confirm your charter boat. You do not want to spend a day walking around looking for the boat and where you board. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Lots of vendors renting boats in the hotels are not reputable and don’t care about your interest and care more about a commission . 75% of the Cabo Fishing websites on Google are not even in business anymore or might be just brokers who don’t have an office in Cabo. Some of the Google websites are misleading and not established .Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs. You dont want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. You need to go to the fishing fleet office, while in Cabo and book your boat. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon.
