So I ran into this guy at a gas station in pocatello. He and a friend were trolling blackfoot reservoir and found a dead bull elk, they called fish and game and were able to salvage it. It had gotten into a sparring match with another bull. when they got to looking at it it had an antler tip lodged in its skull and stab wounds in its hind quarters and ribcage. It scored out at 370 with 14 inch bases, crazy thing was the fish and game biologist that helped with the salvage measured the age of the bull with its teeth and said the bull was around 20 years old(I really didn't think that bulls stayed that large for so long.

that's cool they let him have the rack then? Or by salvage you mean the meat and everything?

Everything I think, they changed the salvage laws this last year so I think you can salvage the whole animal.
