GARFIELD COUNTY - Christopher Winslow of Iron County, Utah was illegally fishing at Panguitch Lake on April 29, 2011, when a Utah Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officer contacted him. Winslow possessed an expired combination license, which he unlawfully purchased while on suspension for a 2004 hunting violation.

Additionally, UDWR officers discovered he had illegally captured a trophy rainbow trout (12 pounds 15 ounces) in Wayne County without a valid license. He bragged about the fish, and others, on several Utah online fishing forums. He continued to boast about his fishing exploits long after he had been charged with wildlife violations in three counties.

The habitual wildlife violator pleaded guilty on January 6, 2012 and was ordered to pay $1,014 in fines. On June 21, 2012 he received a 10-year suspension of all Utah Division of Wildlife Resources license privileges. He will not be able to purchase a license to hunt or fish in all 37 Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact states until June 5, 2022.

The officers of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources thank the sportsmen of the state for continuing to provide information on illegal wildlife activities. Sportsmen who observe suspected violations are encouraged to call and report the incidents as soon as possible.
