Floated the Clearwater last Friday in my one-man pontoon. I make this trip every year with my Dad. My wife likes to poke fun at this trip and calls it our "Christmas List" trip because we always seem to loose gear on it. Last year was the worst as we lost one rod in the water and snapped two others... pretty rough.

This year was much better; fishing was pretty good. I landed three steelhead (all wild) and no lost gear! Hooked them using a float rig using white jigs tipped with shrimp. The Clearwater and Snake are really fishing well for steelhead right now, but we just got dumped on with a ton of rain. If you are planning a trip to the area definitely monitor the river flows.

Thanks for the report. I've been wondering how it is since I'm headed that way Friday for a cast and blast weekend! Hopefully the weather reports will be accurate and it should make for a good time.

Sounds like a fun trip!
The flow was around 3K when we went and it has sky-rocketed up to over 11K now with all that rain which will likely make fishing a bit tough but also bring more fish into the system. Hopefully it will be coming right back into form for you this weekend!
Have a great trip.
