Spent the afternoon at magic was almost like summer spent a few hours fishing in just a short sleeve shirt wit it being 62 and almost no wind. caught 17 but most were pretty small. two biggest fish of the day was a nice rainbow and a brown. started off with gold and red buoyant then by late afternoon were were fishing olive and orange wooly buggers and black wooly buggers. most of the fish caught was from west magic towards the dam. still easy to get a boat in. finished up the day with a great sunset and bacon burgers in Shoshone.

Those colors were the trick for me a week ago. I have yet to catch a brown in the last 4 years. About ten years ago on the Camas Arm I caught a 15 inch brown that had a fish tail still sticking out of his mouth. I call that, GREED!

Looks like an awsome day. I headed to SFCR.

NIce job on the photos, It was very nice up there yesterday in terms of the weather and the fishing was fairly decent even from the bank. I caught 4 in just a couple of hours including this one that was pretty good sized. I did notice that there were pods of fairly big trout cruising the banks and feeding on the relatively small number of insects that were hatching. Should have brought the fly rod!

Thats a good fish, we never did mark any large schools on the finder and I thought that was odd as all of the times we have been there they have been in large schools

We going to be able to get on the ice near the hot springs this year?

We didn't make it that far up but as low as it was i cant even imagine there is much water up there. before we even got to the narrows it was 13 feet deep and i made the comment to my wife that it almost looked dry up that way except for maybe a channel going threw there.

Hmmm.[:/] Anyone ever hear more about the draining of Magic this year? I know there was some buzz about it a month or 2 ago, but last I heard they were still unsure if they were going to drain the res and repair the dam.

This is the last i heard and if i remember right it was still running strong in Shoshone so maybe its underway

I thought I read it is now in the court system. Dam operator versus irrigation because they have not begun lowering the level which was supposed to start last month to begin repairs.

Had friend below the dam on Saturday and he said it was fantastic, he was fly fishing.
